OS X Lion - Thoughts on Launchpad

So I’ve had more than a week to play with Mac OS X Lion and while I mostly love it I can’t seem to learn to like Launchpad, the Mac version of the iOS home screen. It gets way too cluttered with useless icons. What really boggles me is why icons that are in the dock show up in Launchpad. This seems really redundant and pointless. 

Launchpad seems like a half-assed add-on to OS X and not a carefully crafted piece of the operating system like the rest of Lion’s improvements.
